Helme Calfee
Helme Calfee is currently a Director of the Inter-American National Collaboration. This
non-profit foundation was formed by several of FONEMEDs original founders in 1995.
The foundation places new and used donated medical equipment in healthcare facilities
worldwide, particularly in areas that have limited or no care available now. The
foundation has completed projects in Haiti and Costa Rica, as well as Georgia (USA).
Currently, Mr. Calfee is organizing projects for clinics in Nepal, South Africa, Uganda,
Ecuador and Jamaica. The tremendous need for healthcare information, in the US and abroad,
encountered by the Inter-American National Collaboration was the initial impetus behind
the formation of FONEMED.
After owning and managing two businesses for 18 years, Mr. Calfee has used his business
expertise as a consultant for the past three years. He has recently provided consultation
to Hot Stuff Fireplace and Patio (a company he owned from 1978-1991) and Parallax. He was
on the Board of Directors of Leavenworth Road Association for 3 years. He became a FONEMED
Member in 1996 as a Project Manager. Mr. Calfee graduated from the University of Kansas
Medical Center as an Emergency Mobile Intensive Care Technician in 1978. He resides with
his family in Norcross, Georgia.
