Robert M. Johnston

Dr. Johnston is the chief medical director of FONEMED. He is also the Medical Director of Emergency Services for St. Mary’s Hospital of Blue Springs, Missouri, Medical Director for Central Jackson County Fire & Rescue and Pleasant Hill Fire Districts, and a clinical Instructor with Trinity Lutheran Hospital’s Family Practice Residency Program. He established ProMed Medical Centers in Kansas City’s urgent & primary care centers. This full service clinic saw over 30,000 patients a year. Dr. Johnston is a member of the Board of Directors for Healthnet Insurance Company and the founder of Associated Emergency Physicians, LLC, and IPA representing three emergency physician groups. He has international experience working with the Red Cross in Honduras and Ethiopia. He set up, managed and staffed urgent and primary care centers in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1996, he began serving on the PO (Physicians Organization) Board of Directors. He has been Medical Director for the Blue Springs Police Department since 1982. Dr. Johnston graduated from Tulane University and the University of Arkansas School of Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine residency and surgery internship at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
